BunKaboose (starting at $56,900 or $49,900 for Sam’s Club members)
The BunKaboose, designed by David Papen and Darin Zaruba from EcoCabins, was first envisioned as a cross between a caboose rail car and a rustic bunkhouse. A uniquely original tiny house with rugged style, classic appointments, and superior quality craftsmanship, the 20’ model with a 4’ deck is now available and the 24’ model with a 4’ deck will be released soon. This home features a quaint rustic metal deep soak bathtub, two lofts, an electric fireplace, and ‘beetle kill pine’ interior walls, trim, and floors.

Taxes: It’s possible that you will need to pay city, county, and state sales tax. If you purchase a micro, park model, or tiny house from EcoCabins for Colorado delivery we will facilitate paying those taxes for you. If you purchase a micro, park model, or tiny house for delivery outside the state of Colorado, you will pay taxes to the DMV in your state.
Delivery: Delivery costs can vary greatly depending upon your location and the house model you choose. For example, delivery costs for a micro unit will be much cheaper than delivery costs for an 800 square foot modular house! For a free quote specific to your situation, we invite you to call our partner hauling company, Tiny Toters.
Foundation and Land Prep: Depending on what kind of house you choose and where you would like to put it, there may be some costs to build or pour a foundation, prepare your land for that foundation, and eventually set your home on it. Some locals require that a local crew be used for these services, these folks are usually paid by the hour.
This also depends on what kind of home choose and where you want to live. Below is a brief overview of the basics, please call us for more specific information.
Tiny homes on wheels (sometimes referred to as THOW) are built to RVIA code and do not require a foundation. However, certain locations require that all homes be on a permanent foundation. If this is the case where you live, we can build you a tiny house that is not on wheels.
Park model cabins and cottages are built to RVIA code on set on a permanent chassis. They typically do not require a foundation although we recommend that they be set on a concrete pad at least.
OTHER MODULAR HOUSING
IRC homes (modular homes and any home built to IRC standards) require a permanent foundation.
The cost to build a foundation will vary based on your location and the amount of work needed to prepare your land. We recommend contacting a contractor in your area for an estimate. If you are in Colorado, give us a call, we are happy to connect you with a trusted contractor.
Set crews are usually paid by the hour and rates will vary based on your location. We recommend contacting a set crew in your area for an estimate. If you are in Colorado, give us a call, we are happy to connect you with a trusted set crew.
EcoCabins is happy to be able to offer financing to qualified buyers. We have established relationships with two respected local banking institutions who are familiar with small housing and modular homes. We are happy to help you start the qualification application. Give us a call for more details.
Unfortunately, it’s really hard for us to answer this question without knowing the specifics of your situation. (Where you want to live and what kind of house you want to live in.) We happily provide complimentary consultations on this subject, please give us a call to discuss your unique opportunities.

Yes. EcoCabins tiny houses are built to a national standard RVIA code from a qualified, personally inspected and certified factory using state of the art-tools and materials.
Factory built tiny homes are built with the same high quality materials as a site built tiny home, and in most cases they are built with better craftsmanship and attention to detail then a site built tiny home. Our tiny homes are built in a controlled environment, so the building materials are not exposed to the elements and there is no danger of damage from rain, snow, or anything else mother nature throws into the mix.
Check your local building codes, follow the blogs, or contact us and we will help you find the perfect, legal place for your new hOMe.
EcoCabins tiny houses weigh, on average, approximately 11,000 lbs. to 18,000 lbs. depending on the model. Most can be pulled with a one ton truck.
